ABSEL ELECTRONIC PROCEEDINGS GUIDELINES
ABSTRACT
This paper details the requirements for manuscript submission to the Association for Business Simulation and Experiential Learning (ABSEL). Send your paper electronically in Word format to the respective track chair. Information on where to send it can be found here.
INTRODUCTION
These guidelines have been prepared in accordance with the publication needs of the ABSEL. The title and all headings should be centered and typed in all caps. Authors should put their last name first, and first name last, with their affiliations under their name. Both the author’s names and affiliations should be centered. Include e-mail addresses to facilitate contact by readers. The body of the manuscript should be single-spaced and fully justified. Editors may editorially adjust manuscripts to manage page breaks and manuscript flow.
FONTS AND MARGIN REQUIREMENTS
The manuscript should be typed in Microsoft Word, single-spaced, using Times New Roman at a 10-point font. The title should be centered, set to 18 point; authors’ names and affiliations centered, 14 point; and, headings centered, regular 12-point type, all caps (no italics for the abstract heading). Please DO NOT use a hard return while typing in the title. The abstract should be in italics.
SUBHEADINGS
Subheadings should be bold, 10-point type, all caps and left justified.
Indent paragraphs 1/4 inch and DO NOT skip lines between paragraphs.
The use of tables and graphics for all data to enhance readability of the text is encouraged. All tables and graphics should be done in Word and listed at the end of the paper following the references. Please include a line stating the approximate placement of the table or figure in the body of the paper.

Margins should be set to Word’s default (1” top and bottom; 1.25” left and right). DO NOT use page numbers, headers, or footers. Be sure to SPELL CHECK the manuscript.
LENGTH REQUIREMENTS
The Editors will limit page counts for Proceedings as follows: abstracts should be no more than two pages; condensed papers (e.g., demonstrations, symposia, panel discussions) should be no more than 5 pages (please include references); full papers should be no more than 20 pages. If your submission exceeds the size limitations, the Editors may omit graphics or tables to bring the manuscript within policy.
OTHER INSTRUCTIONS
References should be cited and prepared using the APA style, 4th Edition, (i.e., Hall, Whitmire, & Knight, 1999) and should follow the body of the text. DO NOT use footnotes or endnotes. Single space between citations and indent the body of the citation as shown in the illustration at the end of these instructions. DO NOT imbed hard returns within the citation itself. DO NOT use underlines. Use italics in place of underlines throughout the text and the references. Include only references actually cited in the text in the References. Reference citations should have a hanging indent of .5 inch on the second line as shown below. Be sure to use citations for facts, figures, quotations, AND for general ideas or concepts developed by others.
