As Vice President for Sales and Marketing, Tony has helped Interpretive Simulations become a leading provider of academic simulations. Since Tony joined Interpretive in 2003, the company has achieved record sales year after year.
Since its founding in 1986, Interpretive had been known as a provider of high quality simulations to top business schools. Interpretive hired Tony as part of its efforts to become an international simulation publisher. Tony oversaw the repackaging of Interpretive’s products to meet the changing expectations of the "virtual world." He brokered a print-on-demand fulfillment program for inventory and in 2005 secured an exclusive partnership with the world’s leading academic publisher, Pearson Prentice Hall Publishing. He has negotiated many author partnerships with leading simulation authors, including Jerald Smith and Peggy Golden. In 2006, Tony brokered an exclusive partnership between Interpretive and The Wall Street Journal, a testament to the high regard Interpretive – and Tony himself – enjoys in the academic simulations market. To support the expanding needs of Interpretive, particularly in the area of technology, Tony developed requirements for, and led negotiations with, a software developer in India. Due in part to Tony’s expertise and vision, Interpretive is now one of the top simulation providers in the world across many business disciplines.
Prior to joining Interpretive, Tony worked for SmartSims International, a New Zealand company he helped found. Under Tony’s stewardship, SmartSims became a top-ranked simulation provider as measured by market share in less than three years. Tony helped establish worldwide distribution partnerships with McGraw-Hill, as well as a customer base that included schools from Singapore, Hong Kong, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Tony taught the Mike’s Bikes simulation at The Kelly School of Business at the University of Indiana between 2001 and 2003. Prior to leaving SmartSims, Tony was able to secure a significant infusion of private equity for the company and spearheaded its efforts to establish an office in Boston, Massachusetts.
Tony has proven himself to be a leader in this industry with strong relationships at all levels within the academic market. Tony has also worked personally to provide learning solutions for corporate clients from around the world including DuPont Asia, Burson-Marstellar, and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Australia.
Tony has been a presenter at many academic conferences including the Ninth Annual Conference on Labour, Employment, and Work at Victoria University, 2000; the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, 2002; and the Informs Annual Meeting, 2004.
In addition to his experience in the simulation industry, Tony is a member of the Darden MBA for Executives class of 2009.
